There is a wide variety of rice dishes, mainly Valencian paella, with an important range of food on offer. Within this great variety of rice dishes, the “arrós amb fesols i naps”, the arroz a banda (fish-based rice) and above all the Valencian paella stand out.
Places of interest:
The beach stands out, where during the summer activities are carried out for all the public, both for the younger and the older ones. Its marina, only 5 nautical miles from the Port of Valencia, is the second in the province of Valencia and the closest to Madrid, an important fact considering the number of tourists from Madrid that the municipality receives during the summer season.
The Church of Sant Josep, in the heart of the village, is the historical centre of the municipality. Although it does not currently have a museum, all kinds of exhibitions are usually held in the Casa de la Cultura throughout the year, as well as in the Veles i Vents building in the town centre of La Playa
Festivals:
The Fallas, from 15 to 19 March, are accompanied by parades, shows, “despertà”, and the great “cremà”, the night of 19 March. On the night of San Juan, 23rd June, bonfires are lit and street parties are held. In honour of the patron saints, St. Felix, St. Joseph, St. Francis and the Immaculate Conception, at the beginning of September there are shows, paella competitions, sports and cultural championships, heifers and bull embolado. The Virgen del Carmen, of great seafaring tradition in honour of the patron saint of the beach, is celebrated in mid-July with cultural, religious, recreational and sporting events that culminate in the Seafaring Procession, where the Virgin enters the sea on a boat and other boats follow her.
