Las Fallas in La Pobla de Farnals and Women’s Week

In La Pobla de Farnals, near Valencia, the coming weeks are dedicated to two special events: Las Fallas and Women’s Week (Semana de la Dona).

Las Fallas

Las Fallas is one of the most spectacular traditions of the Valencia region. Huge colorful sculptures called fallas appear in the streets. These artistic creations are made by local artists and community groups and often tell humorous or satirical stories.

During the festival there are parades, music, fireworks and the famous mascletà. The highlight is the Cremà, when the fallas are ceremonially burned.

In La Pobla de Farnals, the program includes:

  • traditional street parades (cercavila)
  • the Cavalcada del Ninot
  • flower offerings
  • award ceremonies
  • and the spectacular Cremà on March 19.

Women’s Week

At the same time, the town is celebrating Semana de la Dona, dedicated to International Women’s Day.

The week features:

  • cultural activities
  • theatre performances
  • talks and gatherings
  • music and community events.

It is a wonderful moment to celebrate the role of women in society.
